Bill Clinton, Anthony Weiner, Al Sharpton
It has been two years since Anthony Weiner was forced to resign his position as U. S. Congressman from the State of New York after it was revealed he Tweeted lewd pictures of himself to several young women. I really miss Andrew Breitbart!
In earlier days, a man who exposed himself to others was considered a pervert. Indecent exposure is a crime and could get one listed on the National Sex Offender Registry (Weiner is not currently listed on the registry). Is what he did really any different? He is like the creepy neighbor who waits in the shadows and exposes himself to children, except today technology permits his exposure to be viewed by millions of people including the young.
Shirin Sadeghi from the Huffington Post writes about Weiner, “Anyone as apparently shameless and power hungry as him wouldn’t let a little wiener pic get in the way of his lifelong goal of fighting the shameless, power-hungry, miscreants who have hijacked the (apparently easily hijackable) American political system.” But who is the real miscreant?
“Iranian-American blogger Nik Richie (nee Hooman Abedi Karamian) of “The Dirty.com” has published photos and a first-hand account from a then-22-year-old woman who claims (and has provided alleged photographs) that she and Weiner were involved in a sexually-explicit internet relationship for nearly 6 months after he resigned from Congress amidst apologies for lying to his constituency and promises that he would cease his internet sexual activities. Several hours after Richie’s report, Weiner confirmed that he continued to sext and send lewd photos after he resigned from Congress,” reports Saddghi.
Yesterday, Weiner announced that it has happened (again), he is sorry (again), he will not do it again (again), and he hopes for the people’s continued support in his run for mayor of New York City. He says this is over. Is it? I seriously doubt it. Weiner’s proclivities will not go away. It is an illness, and it goes deeper than indecent exposure. His behavior belies a serious lack of personal restraint, moral judgment, and an ability to lie repeatedly and deceive his wife and others without remorse.
Politicians and pundits in both parties refuse to publicly challenge anyone who displays serious lack of judgment or moral integrity, because it might force them to examine their own agendas. Bill Clinton, Mark Sanford, Eliot Spitzer…these men are all cut from the same amoral cloth. They are narcissists and cannot be trusted.
Why are New Yorkers complacent and allowing Weiner to decide? Why New Yorkers not demanding he step down and open the door for someone who will truly represent the interests of the people of New York? Do New Yorkers really want this man to be a role model for their city?
Thanks New York for taking the heat off of Florida. Now you are the ones wearing the “I’m with stupid” t-shirts.
With a newly elected mayor Anthony Weiner New York will no longer be known as the “big apple” but rather the “big Weiner”. Think about it.
